Small minded fitness coaches will say any exercise is good exercise. Good fitness coaches will say there’s a right exercise for your body type.

Great coaches will tell you what exercises to avoid and what is best.

For example, avoid treadmills.

Why?

They were originally designed to be a torture device for prisoners. It conditions your mind to struggle, struggle, struggle,… but get nowhere. It was invented 200 years ago to be used as a torture device for prisoners (by Sir William Cubitt in 1818).

Other Workouts to Avoid

  1. Stationary Bike, Elliptical, and Stairmaster

Just like the treadmill, these exercises condition your mind to work-work-work but not get anywhere—not something you want to do. The little temporary benefits you get physically aren’t worth the negative mental conditioning associated with it.

  2. 10,000 steps/Brisk Walking

These sound all nice and good but won’t do much for your fitness health or goals. These are typically starter exercises for those with chronic diseases like heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. Don’t get me wrong, they will get your blood flowing a little; But unless you are satisfied with a little stimulation of happy hormones, it’s not going to do much for you.  Once you stop doing the exercise, the small benefits quickly wear off.

  3. Random Weight Lifting

Americans spend nearly $400 million a year on unused gym memberships. That means the average person spends over $500 a year but never use it.  And for those who use it, find themselves walking in, looking around, randomly doing exercises with no real purpose. Leisurely and randomly doing some weight lifting won’t get you results (unless you do it for years and years).

  4. Exercises By Instagram Celebrities

It’s hard to resist trying some new exercise you see on Instagram, especially when performed by someone who looks like they are super fit.  I mean who wouldn’t want a body like that, right? But don’t be deceived, most of the exercises you see them doing is only for show. It’s not what got them the body you now see. Their need to post creative and fun new exercises to keep their fans engaged trumps the need to actually help deliver results for their fans.

About the Author James Ko

It wasn't long ago I felt over stressed, out of shape, and overfat.

I was overloaded with work, bills, kids, To-Do Lists, and projects, I neglected my own needs (my sanity) and became deeply concerned about my health. All while working as a Sports Medicine Physical Therapist helping others reach the pinnacle of their own health and athletic performance.

Feeling like a fake, a hypocrite, I decided to make a change.

It was easy for me to help others improve their health and bodies but very difficult to do for myself. With a busy schedule, constant travel, and high stress, it was impossible to eat healthy and exercise regularly.

This left me feeling even more defeated; and my health declined even further. Things spiraled out of control until one day I thought I was having a heart attack. It scared me. I took it as a red flag warning to make a commitment toward change.

I made it my mission to find a way to make it work. To achieve better health despite stress, bills, work, kids and travel.

One day I stumbled upon a life-altering method. Everything began to change. And now my health and body is better than ever (in many ways even better than in my 20's). I feel incredible. I don't get sick like I used to, and I have high energy to attack the day.

I now have a mission to share it with others. I believe everyone should have access to this groundbreaking information regardless of socioeconomic or educational status. It should not be only privy to the elite and wealthy. So join me. Let me guide you to discovering your inner power and make health, fitness and wellness a reality and lifestyle.
