There are two proven ways to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and reduce facial lines to make your skin look more youthful, smoother, brighter and more even.

Microneedling and chemical peels. But which one is best for you?

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels have been used since the the early times of Egyptians. Cleopatra used milk (lactic Acid)  to make her face and skin look smoother , younger, brighter and more hydrated.

Chemical peels (Skin Resurfacing Treatment) involves the application of chemical solutions to the skin. There are different levels of chemical peels so they should be professional administered. There are superficial, medium and deep peels. There re AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) which are made from fruit sugars, almonds, plants and milk are best for dry skin. BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) like salicylic acid are better for oily skin.

Chemical peels work by rejuvenating and resurfacing the outer layers by removing the keratin layer of dead skin cells that sit on the epidermal surface. Which then stimulates the production of new healthy epidermal cells.

Chemical peels are designed to go a certain  depth to “injure” causing the skin to have to re-heal which stimulates and boosts collagen and epidermal growth creating a fuller, tighter, brighter, smoother, more plump and hydrated appearance.

Chemical Peels are best to reduce the appearance of..

  • Fine lines
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Acne breakouts
  • Uneven skin texture and tone
  • Blemishes

MicroNeedling

Microneedling goes back to 100BC when Ancient China started using acupuncture to promote natural healing using needles. Different but the same idea…Microneedling was officially first recorded in 1905 by a German Dermatologist who used it treat scars, birthmarks and hyper-pigmentation. Dr. Fernandes was the first to develop a needle stamp used specifically to induce collagen in 1995. Later it was discovered to be successful in more than inducing collagen but also increasing elastin to eliminate wrinkles, smoothen skin and treat pigment issues.

Microneedling (Collagen induction Therapy) involves using a device with a dozen tiny needles to micro-puncture the skin. It works by tricking your skin into thinking it has been injured so your skin can self heal by increasing collagen production. Think about a time you got a scar when you fell off a bike or tripped over something and cut yourself. Do you still see the scar today? Or did you notice that as it healed it was thicker than the rest of your skin? Well micro needling works by micro injuring the skin causing an injury and forcing the body to “self heal” by thickening the outer layer. In means to protect itself we get a thicker more plump appearance since we treat the whole face. Cool huh?

MicroNeedling Targets…

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Age spots
  • Large pores
  • Acne scars
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Reduced skin elasticity

My Recommendations

I recommend that my clients start with a chemical peel and alternate between the two treatments. They actually work best together!!

There’s no real down time with either treatment. You will need to avoid the sun and heat for a few days only. Thats what makes these treatments the perfect winter routine. With consistency your wrinkles and fine lines will noticeably be diminished. Most of my clients see results after just one session. However I recommend anywhere between 6-12 sessions to get maximum longterm and lasting results.
